DURGA PUJA

Hey viewers! It's been very long since I have written any blog. How are you all doing?
So recently I visited Kolkata and as all of you know that Durga Puja is celebrated there in a grand way. And yes it was graaand.
In honour of goddess Durga during the period  of Navaratri. It is celebrated for 10 days, however starting from the sixth day until the ninth day, the Pandal with grand idols of Goddess Durga are open for visitors.

What is special about Durga Puja?
Goddess Durga is worshipped as Durgotinashini, the destroyer of evil and the protector of her devotees. Durga puja is celebrated with gaiety and devotion through public ceremonies of "Sarbojanin Puja" or "Community worship" and commemorates the annual visit of the goddess with her children ti her parents home puja.

I can truly say that the artists or the craftsmen are super talented there. They used cupcakes paper base, bamboo, tiny wood pieces, paper craft, thread, lights, colorful glass and other decorative items to decorate pooja pandals.
Every pandal had different concept.

The first grand worship of Goddess durga in recorded history is said to have been celebrated in the late 1500s. Folklores say the landlords, or zamindar, of Dinajpur and Malda initiated the first durga puja in Bengal.

Some glimpses of  Durga and pandal  from North Kolkata and South Kolkata

NORTH KOLKATA

This pandal is made with the concept of Jagannath puri.

This lamp shade pooja pandal is giving this really amazing vibe.

Can you see guys whole decoration is done with glass bangles.

This one is my favorite one. The lighting inside was lit.

This pandal was made with the concept of Ganga and the idol was in a traditional form.

There is a place in Kolkata named Kumartuli where the sculpture of Durga is made and is exported to all over India. This one us from Kumartuli. Made with totally different concept. It has to be my favorite.

This pandal is super pretty as it was made with the concept of jungle by giving Durga the traditional look of Bengal.

Guys just see the structure. It is made up of thermocol. This one is from Md. Ali park.

This pandal is decorated with cupcake base sheets and other craft materials.

This whole structure is made with bamboo sticks.

SOUTH KOLKATA
This pandal has my heart as the whole pandal is decorated with colorful glass and bangles. And the lighting though.

This pandal is made up of colorful thread.  And specifically that purple thread decoration behind is killing it.

Whole pandal was made with small wood pieces.

This one is made with bamboo sticks and the best part is the diya concept.

I personally think that you guys should visit Kolkata once in Navaratri and go through the Durga puja pandal.
Here you will get really amazing vibe and a total different environment.
I hope you guys like reading it.

Thank you.
